When inspiration strikes, I love to write, whether it be a short story or a novel. English wasn’t a subject I enjoyed at school, and I know I ended at least one creative story in an exam with ‘and then they woke up and it was all a dream’. My creativity does not flow during an exam. But there are no exams now and I just write for fun. Usually a scene or phrase comes to me and I just go with it. I do like short short stories that are accompanied by an image, which are shown below. I initially wrote fan fiction which was a great launching platform for me as I don’t think I would have started writing without it, but now it’s all original.
Short Stories
Watching Me, Watching You – A short romance, 1464 words, 2014
Reflections – Short short story, 136 words, 2017
Grave Upon Grave – A short story, 1133 words, 2018. It was a challenge piece I wrote based on the quote ‘life springs from death; and from the graves of patriot men and women, spring living nations.’ From Patrick Pearce, during the Irish Rebellion, 1916.
